Dynamic Dog Assessments in Keighley
- When Behaviour Doesn't Add Up

Have you tried training... but nothing seems to stick?

Does your dogs behaviour feel confusing, inconsistent or difficult to explain?

You might have been told:

  • 'it's just behaviour'

But sometimes...

  • there's more going on beneath the surface

When behaviour isn't just behaviour

Many dogs show signs that don't quite fit:

  • reacting to dogs or people
  • struggling to settle
  • becoming more sensitive or anxious
  • showing sudden changes in behaviour
  • appearing 'grumpy' or unpredictable

Sometimes these behaviours are linked to:

  • pain
  • discomfort
  • or underlaying physical issues

Even when it's not obvious

Common signs we look at

You might recognise some of these:

  • reactivity or sudden behaviour changes
  • reluctance to sit, lie down or move
  • pulling, stopping or refusing to walk
  • sensitivity to handling or equipment
  • excessive licking, chewing or grooming
  • difficulty settling or switching off
  • 'hyper' or restless behaviour
  • unusual posture or movement

  • On their own, these might not seem concerning
  • But together, they can tell a bigger story

Why this matters

Research (Mills et al., 2020) suggests that a large percentage of behaviour cases may involve underlaying pain or discomfort.

Dogs don't always show pain in obvious ways.

Instead, it often shows up as:

  • behavioural changes

Which is why it can be missed.

A different way of looking at your dog

Dynamic Dog Assessments take a whole dog approach.

We look at:

  • behaviour
  • movement and posture
  • daily routines
  • emotional wellbeing
  • potential physical discomfort

  • to build a complete picture of what's really going on
